Being a mom to three girls and only one boy, I have more princess ballet stories than I can count. It gave me great joy to read, for a change, a Western adventure. The added bonus, the imaginative twist that actually perfects the tale, is that it’s a dinosaur Western!
The creativity that shows on every page had me reading till the end and then wishing for more. Instead of the typical saloons that serve drinks that are far from child-friendly, the author (David Nash) has presented them as soda shops. And there’s only one dino that is mean enough to drink the hardest drink around… sour milk!
This adventure, the first of many I hope, has Pete and Charley, two best friends, bored with nothing interesting to do. Pete’s dad decides to help ease the boredom by telling the dino-duo the story of Sheriff Herb and his best friend, Jerry. The sheriff and his best friend get some troubling news when they see a picture of a friend from their past… on a “Wanted” poster!
They set out on the trail to find their friend and discover the truth. What they discovered was that doing the right thing is sometimes hard but always worth it, and forgiveness is an action that should never be forgotten or postponed. I highly recommend this book for children ages 6-12, boys and girls alike. Be sure to order your copy today!
Note: While enjoying “The Sheriff: A Pete and Charley Adventure,” be on the look-out for “The Big Mess!” which is the second in this creative series from author, David Nash.
