When a story becomes a song, I can’t help but be in awe. Since I was a child, I’ve wanted to be an author and songwriter. I’ve only accomplished half of this dream, but for author and songwriter, Rob Saranpa, he’s living the dream. In his book, “The Night Jesus Met Santa Claus,” we’re introduced to a story in rhyme with music in mind.
After becoming a Christian in 2003, Rob wanted to find a way to take the spotlight off of Santa in the commercialized holiday and have it shine on Jesus. His goal was to teach his own son about Jesus while maintaining the wonder found in most children concerning Christmas. Rob did an excellent job of not stepping on the toes of Santa vs. no Santa while maintaining the true Reason for the season.
“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith – and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God – not by works, so that no one can boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9 (NIV)
This is one of my favorite passages and is cited in Rob’s book. While Santa has gone down in history for being a gift-giver, God is the Gift-Giver. Christmas is a wonderful time to teach our children about Jesus, and this book can be an excellent resource for parents who were raised on Santa or who desire to bridge the gap. As a gift or as an addition to your own home library, I recommend ordering your copy today. Order soon and beat the Christmas rush!
