What do you get when a quiet community gets a new, mysterious neighbor? With all of Crab Lake’s inhabitants living quite harmoniously together, this strange, new neighbor has gotten everyone a bit flustered. That’s because their new neighbor is a Mountain Lion! They all know that something needs to be done, but what’s needed is something everyone is too terrified to do.
The author, David Mulford, invites us to join Jeannie and her woodland friends as they come together to try to re-establish balance to their small community. With so many unknowns, and not wanting to offend Mr. Mountain Lion, they come up with a plan to invite him to a reception. At this reception they can spend time getting to know him instead of making hasty, unfounded assumptions.
This lovely book conveys how it’s so easy to judge someone before getting to know them. It also portrays how genuine community can be a balm on open wounds. A perfect book for a world of differences and the need for unity. I would recommended this picture book for ages 5 to 10.
