Not being tied to a deadline, I took my time getting through this book. My husband doesn’t typically enjoy sitting and reading, but loves learning new things and discovering new depths of God’s goodness. To bridge the gap, we spent some time in the evenings in which I would read aloud, we would discuss, and then we would partake in the holy Communion. As far as having devotional time shared with your spouse, I highly recommend it! The benefits for your relationship are huge and far-reaching.
When it comes to religious books, I do not recommend them when they are not in complete agreement with scripture. That being said, I highly recommend this book. Pastor Joseph Prince walks us through the holy Communion, scripture by scripture, detailing what was accomplished. One of the many blessings resulting from Jesus’ sacrifice was healing and I’m absolutely convinced that healing is for today. There’s so much that we gained through Jesus’ death and resurrection, but many churches have put their sole focus on salvation and have stopped there. Because I picked up this book, I have a whole new appreciation for what used to be a mere ritual.
From the Old Testament we’re given a detailed encounter with the first Passover and are shown how they so intricately connect with our Passover Lamb. The holy Communion is not about religious ritual, but about deepening relationship with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Many discount healing for a multitude of reasons, one of which being a “lack” of faith. We are reminded that Faith is nothing more than looking to Jesus – I think that’s something we can all benefit from. We can also benefit from scripture after scripture pointing back to Jesus, His faithfulness, what He accomplished on the cross, and what we’re privileged to partake in.
The depths of this book are too great to try to compact into a review here. Plus, I wouldn’t want to spoil some of the details that we often miss when reading through scriptures that Pastor Joseph Prince brings to his readers’ attention. Joseph Prince is clear in stating that the holy Communion is not about bread or crackers, wine or juice, but about focusing on what hung on the cross with Jesus – it was every sin, every illness… every curse. Order your copy of this book today and start walking in what Jesus paid the ultimate price for. You have nothing to lose and your health to gain.
